It’s about time: The new Australian government cloud policy

The new Australian federal government cloud policy - it’s about time!

The new policy will apply to holding personal information collected and stored by agencies in a public cloud or offshore by an outsourced provider.  Previously, if an agency wanted to hold personal information offshore or in onshore public cloud arrangements, it needed the approval of both its portfolio Minister and the Attorney-General.

These two approvals are no longer required – the agency needs to assess and document the risk.     Good news for cloud providers!
